Hyperlink Highway
A road trip through Wikipedia. Everyone votes on the next exit. Reach the goal before the fuel runs out.
How to play Hyperlink Highway
Hyperlink Highway is a free Wikipedia game for groups: a wiki race where the whole crowd drives one car. You start on one Wikipedia article and try to reach a goal article only by following links. Every exit sign is a real link from the page you are on, and everyone votes on which one to take.
Pick a route
Choose a start and a goal article, or press Random route. Easy, Normal or Hard sets your fuel and how helpful the exits are.
Choose who votes
Your Twitch chat types 1, 2, 3 or 4. Friends scan a QR code and vote on their phones. Or play alone with clicks and number keys.
Drive
When the timer ends, the exit with the most votes wins and the car drives on. Every hop costs fuel. Reach the goal before the tank is empty.
Play on stream
Enter your Twitch channel name and press Start trip. Chat votes by typing a number: no bot, no login. Show the game on stream with a Window Capture of this browser window, or press Copy OBS link and add it as a Browser source so the trip starts by itself.
Play with friends
Press Open room. Friends scan the QR code or open the join link on their phones and vote from the couch or from anywhere. No app and no account needed.
Questions
Is Hyperlink Highway free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no download, account or payment. You may stream it and post clips, including on monetized channels.
Do I need Twitch to play?
No. Twitch chat is one way to vote. Friends can also vote on their phones in a room, or you can play alone.
How does Twitch chat voting work?
Enter your channel name. The game reads your public chat (read-only) and counts messages that are just a number from 1 to 4. The latest vote from each viewer counts.
How do I add it to OBS?
Two ways. Easiest: play in a normal browser window and add it to OBS as a Window Capture; you click and change settings as usual (keep the window visible, not minimized). Hands-free: set up your trip, press Copy OBS link and add a Browser source (1920 × 1080) with that link. The trip starts when the source loads; between trips, right-click the source, choose Interact and pick New route or Same route.
Is this the Wikipedia game, the wiki race?
It is a crowd-voted take on the classic Wikipedia game, also called a wiki race: get from one article to another only by following links. Here the whole crowd steers one car, and fuel limits how many hops you get.
Is Hyperlink Highway made by Wikipedia?
No. Article text comes from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA 4.0, with a link to each article. Rowdycade is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.
